Before & After–Replace a Missing Tooth

Replace a Missing Tooth: This story starts nearly a quarter-century ago, when this patient (at the age of ten) chipped his tooth in a swimming mishap. Years later, the weakened tooth snapped below the gum line causing our patient to lose the whole tooth.
Dr. Ross created a dental implant (an artificial root) that replaced the missing tooth. The jawbone bonded to the surface of the implant much the way it would with a natural tooth root. A permanent crown was then attached to the implant and the patient could again chew corn on the cob and apples a total resumption of normal function. He is an athletic water-skier and distance swimmer, though we do recommend that he try to avoid any poolside mishaps!
